Our Response to COVID-19

We are working together with the Wisconsin Lions Camp to understand the impacts of COVID-19 on our program and how to implement risk mitigation strategies that will best allow us to run Camp. Families and Camp will need to work together to help ensure everyone has a safe, healthy and enjoyable time at Camp.

Using resources from the CDC, the American Camping Association, State & Local health agencies and other camps this outline has been developed to lower the risk of COVID-19 entering our Camp community and to limit the spread if it does enter our community.

Let us be clear – there is no way to completely eliminate the risk. Camp is using the “swiss cheese” philosophy as related to risk mitigation to lower the risk of spreading COVID-19.

Before Camp
In order to lower the risk of COVID-19 entering camp, campers will need to take additional safety measures in the 14 days prior to their arrival.  Families should monitor for signs and symptoms 14 days prior to arrival to Camp for symptoms of COVID and should not attend if symptoms are present.

Parents/guardians of campers will also be required to complete a pre-arrival questionnaire. If you have questions regarding signs and symptoms, please contact your medical provider.

Additionally, we ask that all campers limit interactions to those inside of their family for 14 days prior to their arrival. We ask that if they must leave the house, they wear masks, wash or sanitize their hands often, and maintain 6-foot physical distancing.  We also ask other members of the household to uphold masking, handwashing and physical distancing during this two-week period.

During Camp
In order to lower the risk of the transmission of COVID-19 in Camp, we have adjusted our camp procedures and lowered our capacity.  We may need to change any or all of these procedure as we adapt to the latest data and guidance from public health officials.

Additional Practices that will also be in Place

  • Temperatures will be taken of all guests & staff upon arrival and then daily. If the participant is exhibiting any symptoms or has a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher, they will not be permitted to join us at Camp.
  • Campers and staff should wash or sanitize their hands before and after every activity.
  • Equipment and supplies will be sanitized frequently.
  • Campers and staff will maintain social distance whenever possible.
  • Campers and staff will wear masks when entering group buildings (other than your own cabin/sleeping quarters).
  • Restrooms will be sanitized twice a day.
  • Tables will be assigned in the dining hall to restrict intermingling of groups.
  • All activities that can be conducted outside to maintain maximum distance will be.
  • Campers should only participate to their comfortability.
  • Campers and staff should help by following all health and safety procedures.

We hope this outline will provide you information about our practices to allow you to make an informed decision about whether to send your camper to Camp this summer.

We also know that the information surrounding COVID-19 continues to change and evolve. As such, this document is a living document. As new information changes and evolves, so too will these guidelines to reflect current information. Camp will look and feel different this year, but we believe that our youth are not only craving, but need a Timbertop experience.
