WSAW TIMBERTOP CAMP NEWS STORY

Adam’s Timbertop Camp Experience

“My daughter has a learning disability, as well as dyspraxia, and the occasional flare up from her Hydronephrosis. Every camp she has wanted to go to, she has gotten “left behind” so to speak because her limitations wouldn’t allow her participate in many of the camp activities without help. And then we found Camp Timbertop. She was beyond excited because, for once, there were other kids like her. Kids who also struggled with reading and school. Kids who were deemed different by society and their peers. Camp Timbertop welcomed her with open arms and wanted to know everything about her differences so they could incorporate them into their daily activities, as they try to do with every child that attends. The bonds that are made among the campers continue beyond camp and my daughter eagerly looks forward to seeing her friends again each summer. Check in day reminds me of a huge family reunion. So many hugs and nonstop tales of what they’ve been up to throughout the year. But the best part is hearing them talk about the memories from years past and what they hope to do again during the week. Archery, swimming, camp fires, songs, tye dying, games, sports, crafts, a dance party, theme days. Camp Timbertop truly has it all, in addition to peer support, talking about differences, letter writing and activities that focus on team bonding. And the counselors look after the campers like they were their own children. I can’t recommend Camp Timbertop enough.” Parent

“Rayne has been able to connect with 2 of the girls outside of camp so far. She is very excited about that. It is fun to return to camp each year, as a parent and as a camper and see people you know. I love how the counselors recognize the campers and welcome them back with hugs and open arms. It’s like coming home to family in a way.” Rhebecca – Parent

“Thank you Pete Matthai and the entire Camp Staff for another great summer. This has been a great opportunity over the years for Emily. Everyone has always done a great job!”  Cindy – Parent

“My daughter had a wonderful time at camp. It was her fist experience at a camp like this and I would recommend this to other parents. She really took an interest in swimming and learning how to swim better. As a parent, I was worried about leaving her all day with children and counselors she did not know but after her first day, that worry was gone. She made friends and had a blast. I am going to sign her up next year and my son as well. It was a great experience. Thank you!”  Sue – Parent

“I would like to thank you for giving me this opportunity to come out to camp. This has been one of the funest experiences of my life. All the campfires, songs and games we played were awesome. I met so many new people here.”  Desiah – Camper

“Michael once again had an exceptional week. He was sad to go home because of all the wonderful experiences he had; friendships both new and old he made, the accomplishments he made, the discoveries he found in himself. Timbertop has made a huge difference in Michael’s life and I am ever so grateful that I inquired bout it when I did.”  Barb – Parent

“Tom truly enjoyed your camp! He can hardly wait for next year! He really enjoyed the counselors, and made some new friends. It was a great, positive experience for him, and something he will remember for a lifetime.” Bob and Connie – Parents
